First of all, because I feel like I have to say this, I've found something awesome: this guy. I know, doesn't look like something I'd listen to, right? Well, listen to his Nocturnal Sunshine podcast (you can get it free on iTunes) - every episode is an hour of steady, repetitive, easily ignorable techno best classified as upscale background noise. This is to say, I've found the best homework music ever. XD

Don't tell my brother. He actually went to see this guy when he came to Denver this summer. My brother would disown me. Then again, we only just convinced said brother to come to Hawaii with the family instead of spending New Year's with his girlfriend, whom nobody likes, so...yeah. YAY FAMILY.

Said girlfriend just tried to friend me on Facebook. That's just a whole new definition of awkward.

But yes. Other stuff. Halloween is other stuff, right?

Of course, then Sunday night was juuuuuust fantastic. I'm never getting the chicken salad sandwich at the Cheesecake Factory again, I can tell you that much. (I will still, however, get their cheesecake. That is not what made me ill.)

The rest of this week has basically just been recovery. We did a Randomizer show, but the recording equipment was busted and I therefore have no episode for you guys this week. Sad. :( I'm also supposed to have written a paper on Sunday night, but that did not happen. Paper is still not written and might not get written until Saturday because I am just bushed. I also have an interview with Dex tomorrow - evidently they still want me, so I'm heading out there, trying to sound intelligent, and praying this goes through because paid internships are incredibly few and far between. It would be a nice feather in my cap for next semester. Wish me some good luck for that one. |D

MY NEW SISTERS ARE AWESOME

Girls I was worried about not getting in got in, I met girls I love, and life is just generally really great. :D In addition, I'm going to be trying to work with COB events this week, so hopefully that will be getting to know my new sisters and possibly gaining even more new sisters, yay~

We have a pledge class of twenty-two. That's our entire chapter over again. I just could not be more pleased :D This year's recruitment was fantastic. And then we all went bowling and just had a fantastic time (although I will forever be calling Lauren "Reeses Pieces" and it's all Natalie's fault).

So yes. I am just ridiculously happy about all that right now.

NSO WAS FREAKING AWESOME

Though the time when three cars showed up simultaneously and there were only five of us at the dorm was a bit insane. Fun, and we got some help from the guys at Miller, so life was good. I'm also going to do some hanging out with DeBell's group of girls, because they have an awesome crop this year (and the RA is one of my friends). :3

ON ANOTHER, MORE SERIOUS, VERY IMPORTANT NOTE:

My roommate, who is incredible and awesome and puts up with my madness far more than she should, is doing the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer this year. Thing is, she has to raise half her own funding - $1800, to be exact. She has, at the moment, raised $1500. This is where all you awesome people come in.

Guys, I have more than forty awesome incredible people on my flist. If all of you chip in a few bucks, or even a dollar, that's at least forty bucks if not more. Doesn't sound like a lot, but that's about an eighth of what she has to raise, and that's a lot when you're a college student with a fast approaching deadline.

If you're in dire financial straits and can't donate, that's perfectly fine - I'm not trying to pressure y'all. ♥ But if you can afford to give, if you would give to support an awesome person being active for a great cause, it would mean a ton to both of us.

THE LIFE AND TIMES OF KIA, ABBREVIATED:

Microwaves, I've discovered, are more expensive than I thought. Also, presumably, if you put the word "yoga" in front of a product that isn't actually a mat but might conceivably be used in or related to yoga, some yuppie will buy it. Ah, the things you learn at Target.

I am now the proud (and rather spontaneous) owner of an ice blue DSi. She does not have a name yet, though I am pretty sure she's a she. No games as of yet, though EBA is in the mail, along with ~$180 worth of textbooks. I only have two classes that require books, and somehow they managed to cost ~$90 apiece. What the hell, Pepperdine.

Bacon cookies were made yesterday - full documentation will come up later when I'm not absolutely dying of exhaustion. Roomie figured out they should probably be refrigerated, so they are. |D

Cheesecake Factory is still awesome. That much is a given.

And guys, the huge day for NSO is tomorrow. This is the day when all of our freshmen (a class of 900 this year) arrive with their parents/families and move in. Yes. All of them. Tomorrow is the day where I report to the Rho parking lot at 5:55 a.m. and keep going straight until midnight or later, then wake up in time to go dorm storming at 7:30 the next day.

Ladies and gentlemen, every single NSO leader out here - everyone wearing the snazzy orange shirts - is a volunteer.

It's a special kind of crazy, but I love this time of year. In fact, we have a motto this year:

Back at Pepperdine. The theme for NSO this year is NSO Hero. It's written in the Guitar Hero font. This is going to be a fantastic theme *A*

And my roomie is here because she is working with the PVC and I have missed my roomie like you wouldn't believe. We are on the exact same wavelength so often it's amazing.

We also went on an hour long grocery run tonight. The fridge in this apartment is gigantic.

AND. REARRANGING FURNITURE. Criminy. Last year we bunked our beds and it took us ten minutes. This year we decided to do the same thing and it took forever and we could not figure out why. There was lots of laughing and making sure I didn't get squished between beds and fruitless lifting before I realized that last year we removed the ridiculously heavy mattresses before trying to bunk anything.

The process went much smoother after that.

I had forgotten just how ridiculously awesome laser tag can be. I had forgotten how complex and intricate and fun Laser Quest's arena is. I had forgotten just how predatory and alive and utterly badass I feel with a gun in my hands and a target in my sights.

Or in the mirror, because that's how Laser Quest rolls. Multiple floors and smoke and grates and mirrors all over the place. It's incredible.

My roomie and I went laser tagging today, as you can likely tell, and I've discovered I've still got it (seventh in a game of eighteen, fourth in eleven). Considering I had to come up with my code name in five seconds or less because the door was closing, I'm particularly proud of it and the stats I garnered with it. Three guesses what it was - think fandom. XD

So yes, that was particularly epic today. Ren Faire tomorrow and pictures to ensue, yay!

...on a fandom note, choreography is about half done and JJF still leaves me in awe every time I watch it. I may have to rip the audio from that, because the cheering overlay with the music is incredible.

So it's three in the morning and I just got back from Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. I am so fried right now.

My roomie is in from CA and went to see it with me. We...wow.

THE VERDICT: A, would likely see again. For all my complaints, most of the negative stuff was nitpicking, and I had my jaw on the ground for most of the movie. It was quite the ride, and I did enjoy it a good deal.

I heard someone's got the soundtrack...would you be willing to share? :3

And roomie and I generated two awesome phrases today:

What the hell is in the water around here. I have no idea what happened or why, but a week ago just about everybody became a terrible tipper. We get a metric ton of verbal tips (high praise and ten percent of the tab) and a metric ton of people who are outright cheap. Fifteen and twenty percent tips are about unheard of.

And it's not just me, either. It's the whole restaurant. I should talk with servers at other restaurants, see if it's the same there.

I worked for six hours tonight and came home with $45. That's a bit more than 10% of my $427 in sales.

It's been $60 tips off $650 sales, $40 tips off $497 sales...and I'm not doing anything differently. I'm still making money, yes, but the amount of money I'm making is not proportionate to the amount of ass I'm busting making sure these tables are fed and happy. Needless to say, it's frustrating.

That, and I went in today on my day off because we were expecting a rush, and said rush never came...yeah. I work tomorrow and Tuesday too.

And then on Wednesday amorsinseramada comes down and life gets awesome. :D

In the meantime, I'm off to DC to go write some incredibly depressing stuff involving J. Why are all my muses so ridiculously headstrong, especially when they're in trouble...? |D

I covered a shift today at work when I wasn't scheduled. We got our asses kicked. On a Tuesday. Welcome to graduation season, I guess.

I've discovered I can't go a shift without getting an EBA song stuck in my head. Tonight, it was La La. Yes, as in "You make me wanna la la in the kitchen on the floor."

Which is a bad thing to be singing in a restaurant, by the way. Kitchen floors there are pretty disgusting.

I am just really lucky nobody opened the walk-in fridge while I was belting it out.

In other news, I miss my roommate because she is awesome.
