Wooooooow RPS today. I can't decide what the best part is:

1: The secret itself is utterly beautiful and has so much love *A*

2: People recognize my character. ;~; That never happens.

3: A complement on our modding skills from a former Econtra mod. This is totally the petty part. 8D

In other, less teeheeheetastic news, the Nostalgia Critic is just as addictive as TV Tropes, with a bit less material (because let's face it, TV Tropes goes on for-freakin'-ever) and more volume.

Plus, there's a point where he looks at the screen and screams for HEEEEEAAAAALP!!

...yeah I laughed my ass off. |D Song for that mission would definitely be "Gotta Get Thru Through This."

Of course, all this means that I have massive amounts of homework to do and haven't started on a whit of it. Oops.

AND FINALLY (all in caps because I have been waiting for this since Comic Con):

HE IS THE MUSIC MEISTERRRRRRRR

Best. Episode. Ever.

So yeah, basically my day has been pretty cool. :Db

And of course:

Really should've posted this last night, but I came home flat bushed, so. Twelve hours late ain't bad. |D

Why was I in such a mood on Sunday? Because I really had no reason to be. Because my new sisters are awesome.

...that's not big enough. Lemme try again.

MY NEW SISTERS ARE AWESOME

Girls I was worried about not getting in got in, I met girls I love, and life is just generally really great. :D In addition, I'm going to be trying to work with COB events this week, so hopefully that will be getting to know my new sisters and possibly gaining even more new sisters, yay~

We have a pledge class of twenty-two. That's our entire chapter over again. I just could not be more pleased :D This year's recruitment was fantastic. And then we all went bowling and just had a fantastic time (although I will forever be calling Lauren "Reeses Pieces" and it's all Natalie's fault).

So yes. I am just ridiculously happy about all that right now.

OH. AND. A day late but nonetheless VERRAH IMPORTANT:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY [info]amorsinseramada!♥~~~

I REMEMBERED THE TWENTY-FIRST NIGHT OF SEPTEMBER

And tonight we go to Borderline. Boy am I looking forward to that. X3

I'm in the Sandbar. There's a piano in here, and a guy's playing it right now. He does this a lot - plays a medley, flowing from one song to another.

He finished the Mario medley a few minutes ago.

He just started playing Canned Heat.

I love my college. XD

I love Elitch Gardens. It was owned by a Six Flags for just a bit, so we got a good number of big roller coasters while it was and then lost all the annoying merchandising when they pulled out. Good times. :Db It's got enough huge roller coasters (Mind Eraser, Boomerang, Twister II) to provide thrills, but also has all the smaller carnival rides (Rainbow, Thunderbolt, Tilt-A-Whirl, Chaos, and the viking boat whose name changes every time) that you know and love.

I went with [info]tafkae for her belated birthday party, as well as her brother and our friend Emu. We, of course, did just about everything mentioned above (except Rainbow and Boomerang, since they were closed, bawwwww) and a bit more and had an absolute blast doing it. We figured out the trick to the Tilt-A-Whirl, we got wet on Chaos (because it was raining by then), and we squished ourselves into a single row of that viking boat and rapped the entire time ("Take a good hard look at the dragon viking boat!"). We also hit the Mind Eraser, which boxes your ears like none other, and Twister II, which is a huge white wooden coaster, twice. I took the first drop in the "I am thinking" Chieftain pose, realized there is absolutely no fun in being srs bzns in an amusement park at all let alone on a coaster, and screamed the rest of my way through it. We were calling it the Billy Mays coaster by the end, because it rode something like this:

Hi! Billy Mays here for Twister II! Are you tired of waiting in long lines for roller coaster rides that end in a minute and a half? Well, with the new Twister II coaster, you'll get a longer, more thrilling ride for your wait! Just watch: we start with a drop to really get you going, then bring you up over a hundred thrilling feet and do it again! This coaster has more twists and turns than anything you'll find at Six Flags, and look! No upside down loops, so your younger riders can come with you safely. The Twister II coaster comes with one thrilling ride per wait, and with this special theme park offer we'll include not one, not two, not three, but four thrilling drops! But wait! Act now and we'll throw in this tunnel absolutely free! Here's how to ride.

I realize this isn't completely Billy Mays (because the whole thing would be in capslock if it were), but this is seriously how the coaster rode, and it was just fantastic.

And then we rode the teacups. Ohhhhhh did we ride the teacups.

If you've ever been to Disneyland and ridden the teacups there, you know that they're pretty tame - after all, it's for the kids. They spin, but they don't go very fast. That was what we were expecting when we got on the teacups at Elitch's.

That was not what we got. I have never walked off a ride so dizzy I couldn't walk straight before. I almost couldn't find the door after I got off the teacups there, because they are hardcore. What was better was brother's reciting the crazy tunnel-scene poem (There's no earthly way of knowing/which direction we are going) from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory right in the middle of it.

That, of course, was so epic we had to do it again.

We also ducked out of the rain and saw the Survivor: Live show. It really wasn't too much to write home about, though we did get to see a man hold twenty-four coconuts. It was awesome. I have pictures.

SO YES. That was my day at the theme park. Tomorrow I head to the oral surgeon to talk about getting my wisdom teeth out (eeeeeeeee do not want). GOOD TIMES. :Db

The concert was frigging fantastic. Earth, Wind, & Fire and Chicago started off performing together - it was their newer music (they started writing songs together, did you know that?) and was pretty aaaaaawesome~

And then Chicago left the stage and EWF performed for an hour and some change, and I completely wore myself out yelling and dancing and singing and it was incredible. They did this thing with blacklights and stuff on their outfits that probably would have been more striking if it had actually been dark outside, but was still pretty cool and wound up being the intro for Let's Groove. I have video of it and all sorts of stuff. I have no idea how the lead singer still has that amazing voice - at the end of Fantasy, I'm pretty sure he was going out of audible range. It was just. Daaaaaang.

And there was a black guitarist with a green guitar and epic skills. His name was Morris. Total headcanon asplode when they introduced him. XD

The one thing they did not do that I really wanted was play September. :/

And then they switched off with Chicago, who was...okay. They were good, but the musical style was what really made the difference: EWF was straight disco, meant to get people to get up and dance, and Chicago was...well, love music. XD They do a lot of easy listening, and they use the word "inspiration" a lot.

Yes, they did play that song. Yes, I do have video. It was all sorts of awesome :D

And then EWF came back on and they played together and that was nothing short of epic.

Especially since they started with - you guessed it - September.

The only reason I didn't yell "THREE TWO ONE GO!" is because I think it would have really weirded out my parents. I did, however, do the arm waving. IT COUNTS.

The show ended with a fantastic bang, and once I've got free time and willingness to hang out on youtube for a few hours I'll show you all the bits and pieces I recorded. Basically, it was an awesome night. Would totally go again. :Db

And now I am going to bed, since I crashed out in the car on the way back. XD

I had forgotten just how ridiculously awesome laser tag can be. I had forgotten how complex and intricate and fun Laser Quest's arena is. I had forgotten just how predatory and alive and utterly badass I feel with a gun in my hands and a target in my sights.

Or in the mirror, because that's how Laser Quest rolls. Multiple floors and smoke and grates and mirrors all over the place. It's incredible.

My roomie and I went laser tagging today, as you can likely tell, and I've discovered I've still got it (seventh in a game of eighteen, fourth in eleven). Considering I had to come up with my code name in five seconds or less because the door was closing, I'm particularly proud of it and the stats I garnered with it. Three guesses what it was - think fandom. XD

So yes, that was particularly epic today. Ren Faire tomorrow and pictures to ensue, yay!

...on a fandom note, choreography is about half done and JJF still leaves me in awe every time I watch it. I may have to rip the audio from that, because the cheering overlay with the music is incredible.

Hey, look! An update!

Hooooooly cow I have so much to post about and I am so tired. XD

For starters, my 21st birthday was just awesome. We went to the Golden Bee, which is the authentic British pub at the Broadmoor (read: ridiculously ritzy five star hotel). I wanted to go for the singalong piano. Turns out the pianist/singer they had that night wasn't the regular guy and had very little idea what the hell he was doing, though I was buzzed by the time he started and therefore enjoyed it very much, even if it did turn into a bit of MST3K at the end.

Tequila shots are friggin' awesome, by the way. So are chocolate martinis. Lemon vodka...not so much. I was definitely a bit woozy by night's end, but I was coherent enough to converse and to type and I woke up with no headache (though I did wake up at 6:30 to the sound of the neighbors' dogs, which was blargh).

Work is going well, though I realized I did not want to do a night shift in red tonight and got my shift covered, huzzah. I work again on Thursday.

My room is a mess. This is not news.

I also have a metric flipton of stuff to do in RPs. Every time I think I'm caught up for at least one character, someone tags me again. I have no idea how people can keep up with full character counts in multiple games - half in each is about killing me. XD

'Course, some of them I can't move at all until they get tags. Hrm.

And that's enough for tonight, because my brain just went splat and I'm tired of trying to revive it.

Maaaaan how long has it been since I've updated this journal. Longer than it should have been, I think.

Cocktail waitress job fell through rather epically, but I went from two shifts to six at OTB, so this is alright. I already gave one of those shifts to my brother, as it was on Monday morning and after what I plan to do Sunday night I did not want any Monday morning obligations.

Sunday is my 21st, by the way. We're going to the Golden Bee. Shall be awesome. :D

My laptop *hopefully* comes in on Monday. We shall see how that goes.

[info]lynxgriffin! [info]tegurunrampant! I HAVE FLIGHT RESERVATIONS.

July 21 arrival LAX @ 2:40 PM
July 27 departure LAX @ 2:05 PM

I know the departure was later than we wanted, but the flight I was originally looking at on Southwest was no longer there. Oops. |D

SPEAKING OF TICKETS. Kia and her parents have some awesome tickets to an upcoming concert at Fiddler's Green. It is not on the twenty-first night of September, but it certainly is an inspiration - possibly the inspiration.

So if you haven't heard me rambling about it like a moron for the past two weeks, guess who we're going to see. XD

Sarah, we need to figure out a song. I am ridiculously indecisive, so what do you want to do? XD

I think anything else I could say at this point would devolve into RP babble, which will definitely run me past my bedtime. I'll save that for later.

This entire entry is going to be epic semi-coherent spaz about the Star Trek movie, which I saw with my mom and brother tonight at 7. It is massively spoilery. You have been warned.

My name is James Tiberius Kirk! )

The Verdict: A. Abrahms, make another one. Now. Until then, I'll go see this one again. Because it was awesome.
